Hello, I'm Nathan Massie

Thank you for visiting my page! I am a current WTAMU student working toward a Masters of Education in Instructional Design and Technology.

The last seven years of my career, I have taught music education and have also been teaching piano students through private lessons for many years. Since 2020, teachers such as I have had to learn different ways of how to teach remotely. With Amarillo ISD introducing the online learning management system Canvas in August 2020, we underwent training before the school year started, and I was the person who my team sought out for help when they had any questions. Still today, they come to me when they have any computer or program issues, and I love to troubleshoot and figure out the problem at hand. This has shown me that I enjoy working more with technology and adults and see this more as a long-term career.

Prior to moving to Amarillo, I worked in an office for a title company, in which I quickly ascended from data entry into a management position within six months. Through this management position, I also had to quickly learn all the requirements for every state and county, as well as oversee international accounts using the Oracle system. I am a quick learner and my expertise in computer technology is also reflected via my experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, as well as completing a computer science course through Harvard University. In this online course, I learned the basics of programming and a few computer languages, including C, Python, SQL, HTML, and JavaScript.

I have also used many other computer programs not necessarily related to computer science, but in the realm of artistic creation. I have been writing music for many years and have released albums which are currently available to the public through all common music streaming services, including Spotify, under the name Nathanael Leo. I used Logic Pro to record all the instruments and vocals, and I have used Final Cut Pro in the past, as well as recently to enhance this newest album with a promotional video, available on YouTube. I also used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva to create my album artwork.

In my current studies, I have taken courses in Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, Microsoft Word and Excel, and a course diving into the Universal Principles of Design. I look forward to learning much more, including my current studies in Adobe InDesign and Captivate this Spring semester of 2024.
